New handlebar switches
17 Mar 2009 09:58
I ordered a pair of these handlebar switches, and after a day of reading wiring diagrams for 2 different bikes I finally got them working.

Are you going to use the bullet connectors or are you thinking of a more permant conection? Two companies offer heatshrinkable crimp splices in three sizes: 1.

and

They have the crimping tools and heat guns.

I am just using the stock bullet connectors since thats what the KZ already has under the tank.
These are wired for a Yamaha XS650, and the wires are a different color than Kawi as well. I just opened them up and traced which color wire went to what switch, then matched them up to the wires in my KZ harness.
On the left side, there were 4 wires that were not used

I'd get some heatshrink cut a little longer than the connector, say about 1/2" and with a heat gun shrink the tubing leaving a cap you can squeeze with pliers when the tubing is hot. This will insulate the wires from potential shorts.
