Installing New Starter- Quick Question was created by BLSSeattle
Hi all. I just moved and can't find my repair book yet. I'm replacing my '79 KZ1300's starter. Do I need to remove the side cover to line up the splines? It seems like they're not lining up (the starter's and the engine's). Thanks. -Michael

The side engine cover will have to be removed(check the condition of the seals) to allow the starter to be installed correctly. Have a new gasket on hand as the old one will tear/break on removal.

Great info, thanks. I was thinking someone was going to say that. Small price to pay.
