I am making a new main wire harness from scratch for my 1000B3 and I am using the old one as a pattern.

I have never seen such an unprofessional mess of crap wiring ever!! what a joke, I would not have believed that this came out of a production factory. There are about 10 splices in the middle of the runs where you would NEVER know that they were there, or be able to inspect them to see if they are good. They even change colors in some them too. I am fixing as much of this as I can but no wonder some people have fits tracking down an electrical problem.

I would not recommend making your own harness, its not hard but WAY tedious and time consuming. I bet I will have 40-50 hrs in this by the time I am done. Oh Well.

A problem with the GPZ's that had FI was the Splices in the FI harness going to the injectors. They would get corrosion in the crimps dropping the voltage to fire the injectors.

I went through mine a few years ago replacing all the crimps with the type used on the F-4 Phantom II.They are a solder sleeve type that contain solder and sealing sleeves that when heated solder the wire and seal it from corrosion.

You have to be carefull doing this as the japanese wire insulation is a fairly low temp type that can burn and melt.

A time consuming chore, but I don't worry about voltage drop anymore.
