Best way to troubleshoot ignition/spark/wiring

Bike - 81 Kz1000M1 Wiring diagram here.

Right side coil sparks. Left side coil doesnt spark. If we move the wires from the right side to the left side the coil does spark. So we have eliminated the ignition coil, spark plugs, and plug wires. They are fine.

The first thing we did was redo the ignition coil power according to wired george's site here.

Same thing.

And the left side there is a black cable that should run to the a 6 point harness and then to the ignition.

What would be the best way to troubleshoot from here? It should either be faulty wiring, inginiton or pick up coils. But I am unsure what the best way to determine which is causing the issue without throwing parts at it.

Thanks!

ditto on testing the parts per shop manual..i suck at elec and can at best switch the stuff till fixed ...but...from what you say i think you have a problem in your ign plate pickups or the connections from you timing plate to coil have a break...some one will know...
