Hey Guys,

While converting my 1976 KZ900-A4 to the Dyna S electronic ignition I came across something screwy.

Either in the bikes wiring from PO or in the shop manual schematic. I believe the shop manual is incorrect due to another schematic I have depicts it the same as my bike.

As can be reviewed in the attached top image, they have the green conductor from the right side of the contact breaker point plate going to coil/plugs 1 & 4. Which I believe to be incorrect!

The bottom image is as on my bike where the green conductor should be for coil/plugs 2 & 3...

So, anyone a hell of a lot smarter than I please confirm which of the two images is correct (top or bottom)...

Thanks,

OMR

OMR. My schematic shows 2-3 being green, however, color of wire is moot. l/h points are 1-4, r/h 2-3. unless wiring has been changed in harness, colors should correspond at coils. regardless, spark at 1-4 and 2-3 are 180 degrees apart. correct will run. wrong won't. once had a Martec ign which color coded backwards, no big deal, swapped two connections & viola. hpoe this helps.G

"correct will run. wrong won't.".. Yup, unfortunately, not at the point of starting yet and bringing to others attention as I update my project.

Still interesting just the same.

I'm fairly confident the lower image is correct where in following the basics of the schematic and other chapoters regarding the ignition where the left contact breaker (points) are definitely for 1/4 coil/plugs. The right side of the plate being for 2/3 coil plugs.

Just never noticed it before now... Oops!

Thanks,
