Advancer

Been awhile since I've been on here, thanks for all the help from before I finally got my KZ 650 running again. I've put on new points and condensors, but would like to clean and lube the advancer and check the springs. I can't find any post on how to do this on the forum, any advice? I've got a manual somewhere, but I'll probably order a new one on friday. Thanks,
Ed

If similar to large fours - - -

Remove entire points plate.

Hold 17mm "nut" while unscrewing the smaller bolt threaded into end of crankshaft which holds the advancer in place.

Advancer and rotor should then easily pull out.

When re-assembling, align mark on rotor with mark on advancer, as this avoids a 180 degree error in the advancer position.

Set timing, being careful to assure rotor cam peak is pointing toward left to begin opening points when F mark for #1/4 aligns with timing mark on case.

Use the 17mm "fake" nut to turn crankshaft. Do NOT use head of the smaller bolt inside end of crankcase to turn the crankshaft.

Good Luck! :)
