Dyna Ignition

I have a 1980 KZ1000LTD. The coils measure at 1.5 ohms. I am considering replacing the coils and igniter with the Dyna 2000 2.2 ohm system. I was told to remove the balast resister when installing the new coils and ecm. Has anyone used this system? what might I technical hurdles might I expect? How did the system perform etc. Any input would be appreciated.

Hmmmm. I didn't think Kawi used any "ballast" style coils in 1980, and the stock coils they used would read 4 Ohms.

Are the 1.5 Ohm coils aftermarket?

the 4.o ohm coils were more commonly found on the points tyle ignition. When Kawaski replaced the points with the digital ignition the coils were change to 1.5 ohm and a balast resister was added. Oh yeah, they are the stock coils.
