Would the 82/83 gauges fit on my 81

Has anybody tried this I am having an issue with my speedo working when it wants and was wondering if the swap would work. Any thoughts? Thanks

The gauge mounts are different and will not be a "drop in" fix. Also wiring may be a problem unless you are comfortable cutting and splicing connectors to mate up.
The ignition/fork lock may be different and be a problem.

I'm not sure if your bike has a electronic tach or not, but the 83 GPz1100 does, and the 83 gauges are totally different than the 81.
According to kawasaki.com, 81 and 82 GPz1100 share the same gauges, but nothing else does.

The more I think about the more I think I will just keep mine stock. Just like the other gauges cause the speedo goes over 85 not that I would ever go that fast.haha
