Regulator Rectifier wiring was created by RSVRDE
I have a 1980 KZ750H which has been turned into a dirt drag bike. I got this bike somewhat taken apart as the previous owner had dreams of making it street legal again. Anyways there was no reg/rec hooked up (most wiring had been cut. I have one off a 1982 KZ750m1 (supposedly) but from the looks of the wiring diagrams there should be 6 wires? Mine has 5, red/white, yellow, yellow, black, brown. I think that the r/w should go to the battery, the 2 yellows and the black should go to the altenator and I am not sure about the brown. Any suggestions Ideas or info?

When I check the wiring dia. for the later 650's, the 2 yellows go to the Generator, the red/white is split going to the battery and the 20 Amp fuse, the black connects to a yellow/black which is the negative to the battery that a lot of other things connect to,and the brown connects to brown that goes to most of the front switches and intrument lights.

Welcome to KZR as well.
Here's the wiring dia. I'm refering to below.
The 6 wire Reg/Rec's have 3 yellow wires that go to the Alternator.

I think you have a single-phase reg/rec and you need a 3-phase.
80 750 H1 (4cyl): 3-phase stator/reg/rec
82 750 M1 (2cyl): 1-phase stator/reg/rec

The 4 cylinder '81,'82,'83 KZ 650 CSR (H1,H2,H3) use a 3-phase reg/rec like you need. There's probably many other bikes that can donate a 3-phase reg/rec for a permanent-magnet alternator like yours. Even more modern Ninjas etc. Stick with Kaw or aftermarket ones made for Kaw.
You can sell your 1-phase reg/rec to someone with the following bikes:
1978 650 B2
1978 650 C2 custom
1978 650 D1 sr
1979 650 B3
1979 650 C3 custom
1979 650 D2 sr
1980 650 E1 LTD
1980 650 F1 custom
among others
Rob, you need one?

Just to update, got a 3 phase one at the local salvage the other day and it seems to work fine (only ran the bike for about 60 seconds)I will check it more next week when I get a chance to work on the bike again. One question that I have is what to do with the brown and the black/yellow wires as I have no circuts that would use them. Should they be hooked up somewhere? Also if someone is interested in the single phase let me know, or I will get around to listing it someday.
Thanks for all the input.

Black and yellow is usually a ground wire. The brown wire is switched positive. Anytime the ignition switch is on, the brown wire should get battery voltage.
Some models don't use the brown wire, but if your regulator has it, you need it hooked up. If not, you will melt the system.
This is all assuming you are dealing with a Kawasaki reg/rec.
