I installed the new Dyna S today. Installation went smooth as silk, and I was getting ready to set the timing.
But when I put a wrench on the shaft nut and turned the engine, my wrench (open end..Doh!) sheared off one of the plastic covers on the points plate. Guess I should have used a socket and extension.
$120.00 shot to hell.
Here's the damage:

From photo it looks like it sheared where the plastic is glued to the metal. If this is the case, send email or call the manufacturer, tell 'em what you did, ask 'em what kind of cement to use to fix it.

If you're hell bent on throwing it in the trash, let me take care of that for you ;-)

I think the cover holds some of the elctronics, and it is soldered to the circuit board underneath. It would take a better electronics guy than me to fix it.
Duck:
I'll check it out when I remove it from the bike. If it looks too far gone for me, I'll send it to you. I'll send you a PM and let you know.

That piece thats held on with what look like cap screws or rivets, kind of mottled cyan on my ancient display, is a circuit board!
It looks like an Aluminum plate in the photo.

ltdrider you hamfisted bodger you, what did you do???? j/k man :P :P

That's gotta hurt, ego and wallet. Anyhow, I have spoke with Dyna via email a bit and they seem like good folks. See if they might cut you some kinda deal or repair even?

Don't fret about it much though, we've all pulled our tricks - betcha that don't happen twice! ;)

That thing might still work for someone with a 750 twin or maybe even a 400 twin.

If Dyna won't take care of you, I'd try some epoxy glue, if you trash it, and if Duck doesn,t get it I call seconds. That's the same side I fried when the regulater crapped.

If you run into a dead end...let me know...i think i have a couple that are not on plates (ie..someone removed them from the main plate) I 'll send one to you. I'm not sure if they are bad or not..
