I have a 78 KZ1000 and my left turn signal works fine and my right and my hazzards don't. I cleaned my hand controls up and put them back together and the hazzards and right signal worked fine after that.... then I started the bike and the left worked and the right and hazzards stopped working again and then my main fuse blew!!!! Any suggestions??

Remove all the turn signal lenses and check for corrosion in the bulb sockets. Bikes this old have several areas of failure to look at such as the condition of the battery, battery connections clean and tight at both frame and the starter solenoid.

The fuse clips for the glass fuses get corrosion and even though they look O.K. may not be good. A continuity light or a multi-meter will be needed to troubleshoot electrical problems along with a shop manual and wiring diagram.

The many and various electrical connectors will probably need cleaning of the green crud which lowers current flow(relays click, lights dim, starter grinds slowly).

Go to the nearest electronic supply store and get a spray can of electrical contact cleaner (Not WD-40) to help clean the connections. To get inside the bullet connections a set of welders tip cleaners or jewelers fils work well along with a small brass bristle brush to scrub the male bullet connections.

Clean and spray as you go and do one connector at a time. Take your time and let us know how it's going.

Also make sure that the wires from the hand controls aren't pinched and shorting out against the clutch perch and causing your current (no pun intended) problems.
