Blue spark (where it should NOT be)
28 Jul 2008 18:49
I was riding around for a few hours tonight, all over the place. It started getting dark and at a stoplight I noticed something - my #3 cylinder's spark plug wire is arcing from the boot to the block. Its only intermitten but the spark is almost an inch long.
So where is the problem? Boot? Plug? Both?
I'm planning on replacing the plugs already.

I'm guessing the boot and/or the wire are junk, not just the plug.

You most likely have a crack in the boot and some exposed bare wire (had something similar in an old truck I used to have). replace the wire and/or boot after inspecting it.

Rubber deteriorates with age especially where it is close to something hot. Z1 sells the plastic plug caps that screw on the end of the wire. They work really well.
