led turn signal question
06 Jul 2008 06:52
Anyone know who sells led signals that have running lights for the front? Also if anyone has hooked up a set let me know how tough it was.

Finding dual-pole replacement/after-market lights is difficult. If you find them,m they are very expensive.
I managed to find a set of bullet-style dual-pole lights on eBay for the back of my 400, since I wanted them to be running lights as well... but it was not easy to find, and not exactly what I wanted... Then I put the 3W Luxeon LED bulbs in, which are awesome bulbs...
Here's a link to the same guy selling dual filament amber bullets ...
So good luck on the search... I just kept the stock ones up front...

You can get LED lights that drop into those sockets with no modifications from superbrightleds.com.

You need the 3W Luxeons to replace a standard 1157 bulb.
All the stock Kawi front turn signal assemblies are dual filament: one for the TS, one for the running light.Finding dual-pole replacement/after-market lights is difficult. If you find them,m they are very expensive.

Not necessarily... the early bikes (like my '75 400) had single-filament front lights (no running light)...
And of course most stock ones are that way, I thought the guy was looking for after-market replacements...?

And like I wrote above, I completely agree about the 3W Luxeons... they are the best LEDs for the money today in my opinion!

Yeah I'm looking for dual filament amber led's for the front and single for the rear. Sandy has a sweet set on his bike I just remembered. He has his rear hooked up so they are on as running lights and they are red. Here in Idaho you are not required to have turn signals on a motorcycle so I guess whatever I do will be legal. I'm getting rid of the Vetter so I had to order a whole new headlight assembly from Jeff and I'll need new blinkers also, so I thought what the hell go ahead and do it the way I want it.

You have the KZ1000? There are red lenses available that fit the stock turn signal lamps (because they were a police bike). I have seen them for sale on ebay. If you want to make red lights for the rear, you can use those red lenses or just paint the amber ones red (which is what I did).

I'm going to use amber for all of the lights but can't seem to find any with running lights. Or any I like.
