Dyna S - are they good?
24 Jun 2008 07:48
I'm trying to gage users' take on the Dyna S. What are the benefits of it? Any problems with it?

Ive ran the same Dyna S and Dyna coils since 1979 with no problems. I recently did the wiredgeorge coil mod that uped the voltage at the coil from 10 to 11.75 volts and it runs even better. Set the timing once and never touch it again. I sure like them, others may not

Dyna S is probably the best low-cost alternative to points.
Down side is that they use double the power of points and almost triple the power of stock electronic ignition. The extra power is just wasted at idle (burned off as heat in the coils). That may cause charging problems if you spend a lot of time idling.

Your KZ750H has electronic ignition stock, and I'd much rather have the stock electronic ignition than a Dyna S. If/when the stock igniter goes bad, you can go to Loudhvx's website and get the plans to build your own from readily available parts, and it's simple to do. Cheap also
