Ignition Turning off, But coming right back on...

Occassinally when I go to start the ol KZ the ignition will turn on fine. And sometimes it will all just shut off, headlight and all. I switch the key to off and back to on and everything is fine. Im wondering if this has anything to do with my surging that happens on the highway. What should I check out to maybe narrow this down.

1980 CSR 1000. New dyna Coils, Vacumn Less Petcock, Various Handle bars depending on the day, (Drag and Clubman.)

I'm fairly certain that it's the same on the old style (pre-1979/1980) KZ ignition switches, but on the new style switches there are brass(?) contacts on the bottom of the switch under the cover that wear/lose their tension and will ocassionally cut power to the bike.

My ZN700 has this problem.
A slight (approximately 1/8" ) turn of the key counter-clockwise restores power and I'm on my way again. I cleaned the contacts and it worked great for a while, but I'm guessing the contacts have lost their tension and aren't touching consistently since it's acting up again = time for a new ignition switch.

I looked over the obvious stuff. The negative terminal was about three threads into the nut. All seems well now..
