Strange problem!!

Very simple question. 81 CSR M1. When you turn the wheel to the left and turn the key all the way clockwise to lock it. The tailight comes on and stays on. Any ideas? Greatly apprciated.

1980 CSR 1000. New dyna Coils, Vacumn Less Petcock, Various Handle bars depending on the day, (Drag and Clubman.)

On my 78 650 the switch position all the way clockwise is an accessory postion the tail light comes on and you can use the 4 ways if necessary without having the ignition for the coils turned on.

78 650-C2, Stock engine, Jardine 4-2 Exh., 17-38 sprockets, dyna ignition and coils, coil wiring mod, carb mod.

Same here
Turning the key clockwise will lock but will leave the tail light on. Did it one night by accident and came out to a flat battery :S next morning.

To lock the bike turn the key to the left (anticlockwise).

Thats great to hear. That means I dont have to chase down a electrical gremlin. Thank you for the quick responses!

Well the it functions how you say to turn on the parking light. But the key just wont turn the other way to lock the wheel. Whats the trick?

It can sometimes get a little stuck. Try turning the handlebars a bit, then turn the key again. You can also try pushing the key in as you turn.
