Does battery effect performance?
28 May 2008 10:37
I have a 1977 KZ1000 and want to know if a bad battery will effect your performance?
I was told as long as all other electrical components are fine and once the bike starts and rides the battery has nothing to do with the performance. Rectifier, coils, stator is all fine.
Can someone clarify please??
Thanks

yes it will affect performance.not to mention making the alternator work itsself to death trying to run everything on the bike plus charge a junk battery.battery is a lot cheaper than alternator or regulator/rectifier.

That's true if and only if the battery is good enough that the alternator can bring the system voltage up to the normal 14V when the engine is running (many times that will be true). If the battery drags it down below 14V, it can affect performance (specifically the voltage the coils have to make spark with).I have a 1977 KZ1000 and want to know if a bad battery will effect your performance?
