HELP - Refuses to start
24 May 2008 20:31
I have been having issues with my bike starting the last couple of days. First my electric start would only work when it wanted to, then it would not work at all. Yesterday I completed Wired George's coil mod, and then the electric start worked just fine, the bike started easier and ran like a dream. then around lunch time, my electric start konked out again. But the kickstart still worked so I wasn't concerned. And now the kickstart does not even work. I know i'm getting fuel, and i can hear the engine turn over when I kick it, but it does not even sound like anything is even trying to ignite. I pulled the tank off and checked but all of my wiring is still intact, and the old wiring does not appear to have developed any issues. I plan on pulling the spark plugs tomorrow morning to take a look. Does anyone have any other words of wisdom or an idea for a fix?
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

Ok,
First thing morning I went out and gave my bike a good swift kick. And the damn thing started! Now, my electric start continues to be non functional. The only thing I noticed different was that overnight somewhere around a quarter of a cup of gas came out of the overflow. Now I rode around for a good hour and didn't have any issues. I am going to let it cool off and try to ride again later this afternoon. Anyone have any idea why the electric start doesn't work or how I managed to flood the engine? All I did was try to kick start it after filling it up at a gas station. (Bike did not have time to cool down)

Ive had this problem>
Make sure you are running the right plugs.
Put a new set in and try agaain.
Also if the problem persists after plug replacement go to a hotter plug. I did and the bike is fine now.
It used to be that the bike had the same symptoms as you are experiencing,
