Cleaning Instrument Glass
26 Apr 2008 09:02 - 26 Apr 2008 09:02
I need to clean the glass on the INSIDE of my speedo and tach - but how the heck do I get the instruments apart to get in there?

Actually, there are some great old threads on this topic in this forum. You might want to check out the old "archive" too and do a search there.... just click on "Archive" under "Forum" above...

Thanks guys - I figured that might be the only route, but I didn't want to experiment. I notice that Z1 Enterprises sell a replacement chrome upper housing that comes with a screw-clamp to replace the crimped one. Unfortunately they are showing it out of stock at the moment!

The chrome cover is a dress-up item for the upper half of gauge which simply covers and doesn't replace the crimp clamp or any other oem part.
Chrome lower half of gauge is usually the oem black metal which has been chrome-plated.
There are posts hereabouts as to best method to remove and replace the crimp clamps, including cutting it off with a dremel and re-assembly using JBWeld.
But here would be my preference:

Good Luck!
