starter/ firing order? something broke??

ok i have a 1981 kz550c, finally got done with my carbs and a bunch of other goodies. well heres my problem now, i went 2 start it and now my starter sound like its just keeps spinning. would that be why its not starting up? would it be my starter or the firing order is messed up? does anyone knwo the the firing order for my bike?? and did my starter take a crap? how much would it be for a new one and where would i buy it at? need help like asap!

Nope, 550 is like the 650 and 750 fours, the starter clutch is inside the case on the secondary shaft.

I just checked kawasaki.com to see, because I wasn't sure

But it does sound like the starter clutch may not be engaging.

if the starter cluth is not engaging then the engine will not turn enough to fire, I once fixed mine by putting new rollers and spring in but most importantly either replaceing the starter clutch gear or having the surface that the rollers locate with reground, this surface becomes pitted and causing the problem

everything is engaging so i guess it works now
