Pic Request - Inside of Left Hand Control (KZ650)
15 Apr 2008 15:48
I'm trying to get all the little switches and circuit boards back in the left hand control of my KZ650 and I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I have the top half of the control done but the bottom is killing me. Basically I know where everything is supposed to go but I'm having a hard time getting it all in there correctly.
Specifically I can't get the hazard switch circuit board and the turn signal switch box to fit in at the same time. I'm obviosly doing something wrong.
I'm really hoping someone has a pic of the top half of the left control showing how the boards and switches are mounted.
Thanks

I had a look at a spare one I have. It's a little rusty and soaking with WD40. I couldn't get any screws loose at the moment.
Here's a pic:

Thanks rstnick. The problem I'm having it that the hazard wiring board is underneath the indicator switch and I'm having a hard time fitting it in and determining how the wires come out from underneath it. Can't really determine if from this pic, but it definitely tells me I was trying to do it the wrong way.
Thanks for posting the pic.

I'll see if I can take the indicator switch lever off later today. The screw is stuck at the moment.

Thanks rstnick, I'd appreciate it, but please don't worry if you can't get it off. I don't want you to strip or break the screw.

That light blue/grey wire under the screw top right is not stock. It's a ground wire added after the fact:

rstnick I owe you BIG time, you're a life saver.
That pic shows me what an idiot I am. When I disassembled the control one of the wires on the hazard board was broke loose so I soldered it back on (this was months ago). Problem is that I must have swivelled the wires around so I could access it a bit better. When I went to reassemble it I never swivelled them around again and so nothing seemed to fit. It seemed like the three wires had to go up behind the indicator switch housing! I completely forgot the wires can move around while still on the board.
I really appreciate the time you took to take those pictures for me.
Thanks again!
