Looking for used Coil for cyl. 2 & 3

With gas pricese at $4 per gallon here now, it's time to get this bike back together and start getting better milage than my dads guzzler Jeep.


Next step to this project is to get a new coil for Cyl. 2&3. They don't fire...anyone have a used one they would like to send to me? I'll pay. Last time I checked it was somwhere like $100 bucks for a new one? The bike is a 76' KZ900. Also need a petcock assembly (bike sat for 20 years and the stock one is toast, but this is a different subject). Any help would be appriciated. Thanks,

Have you checked on eBay for the coil and petcock yet?

I have not checked eBay yet, I'm really horrible at searching. And I also figured that there might be another bike/year/model that will interchange. I don't really know much about these things yet. Was also looking for a used one maybe that someone had laying around for a cheaper price.

Search for "KZ dismantle" or "KZ part out" or things like that. I know there are dismantle sites parting out old Kawi bikes all the time. They had tons of parts cheap.

You can search through the parts diagrams for your bike on the Kawasaki website to find the part number(s) for the part(s) you need. The diagrams can even be saved and/or printed for use later on.
Near the top right of any page showing a diagram is a magnifying glass icon next to an icon of a folder, clicking on it will pull up the "cross-reference" feature that shows what other models and years of Kawis also uses a particular part number, which then will help you broaden your searches by including those other models/years in your search preferences.

For example, the #2&3 coil for your bike is part# 21121-1004 (old part# w/out plug caps), and lists as fitting the following models/years:

Using the list above (which was kindly posted, thank you), I see that the 78' KZ1000 uses the same coils as my 76 KZ900..? If that's the case, I think we have a hit. :thumbsup:

Hi FYI - Last summer I needed a coil and didn't want to wait, I wanted one that day. My neighbor fixes Hondas and he gave me a Honda coil, I just took the caps of the Honda coil and put on the ones from my KZ and it works fine. Different part numbers but it was the same shape. Now I drive a mutt, which I just painted and I'll put pics up as soon as I put it all back together. (I copied a paint job off this site).

Any other news guys? Anyone have one used? Sent a PM, but never got anything back.....

I have a 78 kz1000 and it should work on your 76.
