DYna S Ignition

I am thinking about putting on a Dyna S Kit on my 750 twin. I see lots of good things about them. I am wondering about the difficulty in installation. I also see most suggest a new set of coils. What are you gaining? More output or just more consistancy. I do not have problems currently with my point so I am wondering if it is worth the 200 bucks for system and coils. Thanks

Set it and forget it. Never have to mess with or buy another set of points. Better spark should make bike run better, start easier and leap buildings with a single bound. As springs on points age they lose some tension allowing a point float at high RPM. Well worth the $ in my OP. You can just do the ignition and do the coils later or do both.

IMHO, the only drawback with the DYNA S system is the initial cost. But the benefits make the cost a small concern:

It's a basic "set-and-forget" type of system, and requires very little if any initial adjustments. Most people with only a small knowledge of mechanics can install one and be on the road in less than an hour.

IIRC, the DYNA provides a more consistent/stronger pulse to the coils, where as a points and condenser system gradually fades over time due to general wear and corrosion/pitting to the contact surfaces.

Most folks recommend also getting the DYNA coils at the same time, especially since the coils on our 25+ y/o bikes have probably seen better days (simple old age and in what conditions the bike was/is stored in factor here) and could/will potentially fail. If you can afford it, it's good piece of mind to have them. B)
Most times you can get a slightly better deal if you buy the DYNA ignition and "green" 3ohm coils in kit form, rather than buying them seperately.
