Coil ID
10 Mar 2008 10:23
I recently obtained a set of OEM coils (from eBay) that were supposedly from a running KZ1000B model. I wanted them for a KZ1000A1 model but they clearly are not correct for the bike. The maximum distance between the coil mounting holes on the KZ1000A1 frame is 96mm, while the maximum distance between the mounting holes on the coil posts is 109mm. My question is, can anyone ID these coils based on the distance between the mounting holes on the posts of the coil?

I do know that Accel coils bolt straight on the 750's (both twins and fours) and the 1000's, but the holes are closer together on the 650's and have to be elongated, don't know about the J though. So that would eliminate those.
Sorry I can't provide more help.
You are the one I'd expect to answer this kind of question, if it stumps you what chance do the the rest of us have?I guess not:S

The wire colors are correct...they are just too long to mount in the bike's existing frame mounts...I'm thinking maybe a K, M, or J model or a 650 maybe?

seems like I remember changing coils years back on the 650 and the new/repalcement coil was longer I was only able to use on bolt in it, but I dont remember what it was off of
