electrical swap 77kz650 > 81 kz1000 was created by dandankz650c
I have aquired a 81 kz 1000e shaft drive I will be parting the bike out but Im wondering if it is possible to swap the voltage regulator) recitfier unit from the 81 to my 77 kz650c. I would like to do this because the 77 had seperate recitfier and regulator. and also the 81 had the kawaski electronic ignition can I swap tht too. Trying to work out some gremlins and do a couple of upgrades at the same time. any help would be appreciated and lwt me know if you need parts beacuse I know I cant do anything with a 1000cc engine on my 650 frame. Thanks.

my first thought is it will not work, but then there are some smart people on the site that will say it will.
I am more to buy the parts that are made to fit and work rather than make them work, just my thought

The 77 uses a completely different charging system, stator ect. Also if you have a KZ1000E, you don't have a 1981, you have a 1979 or 80 as in 1981 the new KZ1000J was released which was an entire new engine. In other words I don't think it will work either.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
