hazards and blinker issue

my hazards dont blink at all and my blikers blik erratically. what could cause this on a 1979 kawaski kz650?
1979 KZ 650B pod filters, 4-1 kerker.

Welcome to KZr furby1184.
The hazard lights and turn signals each have their own relays (same style relay for each), so I'd suggest checking those first to see if the one for the hazard lights is shot or disconnected.
If a bulb in one of the signals is burnt out, it can cause the others to flash in a non-uniform (erratic) sequence.
Be sure to check all the wiring and connections to the signals, as a loose connection/ground or short could be the combined simple cause.

That is true. It was explained to me that the relays need a certain amount of current running through them to properly heat the part that breaks the curcuit. With more modern bulbs, it is possible that the currents get tweaked, resulting in a malfuntioning blinker curcuit.

thanks guys ill try that but my electrical is all half-assed with electrical tape im gonna butt them all together. your help was very appreciated

i was having the same trouble. i went and bought new flasher relays and replaced one bad bulb. problem solved. i took one of the old relays apart and it was full of rusty chunks.
