Welcome to KZr Dan.

Even though you didn't state which size Spectre you have (luckily they all use the same cable), the speedo cable for your bike (part# 54001-1029) actually fit's quite a few models over the years:
80~83 KZ550-C1~C4 (LTD)
83/84 KZ550-F1/F2 (Spectre)
83 KZ550-M1 (LTD Shaft drive)
81~83 KZ650-H1~H3 (CSR)
85 VN700-A1 (Vulcan)
86~02 VN750-A2~A16 (Vulcan)
81/82 KZ1000-M1/M2 (CSR)
82 KZ1000-P1 (Police)
84~99 KZ1000-P3~P16 (Police)
83 KZ1100-A3 (Shaft drive)
83 KZ1100-D1 (Spectre)
83 KZ1100-L1 (LTD Shaft drive)

No gaurantee, but most Kawi dealerships should have it in stock.

I'd suggest checking at Z1 Enterprises.com , as they'll likely have it for quite a bit cheaper.
The owner of Z1 Ent is also a member here, and has provided a large portion of us with our parts needs.

Covina, So Calif!
78 KZ650-B2 = SOLD
84 ZN700 LTD = SOLD
84 ZX750 GPz = SOLD
89 GSX1100F Katana = SLEEPING :-/
20 VN1700 Vulcan Vaquero (the Blue Cowboy)
Looking for my next project KZ

The speedo cable is pretty much the same for ANY Kawasaki except for the length... the cable ends should be the same on any mechanical speedometer. Other cables will work but just get one that is a tad longer, and not shorter. If you have a local bike shop, you might measure your old cable and see if they can help; they probably have one that will work if you don't mind the cable being an inch or two longer.
