Quick question on stock coils was created by hobodan
Hello all! I just have a question on identifying some coils I have...
I have 2 sets, one set that fits the frame of my 77 kz650 b1 and the other set is slightly larger. I am assuming the larger ones are not correct, but maybe they could work? I dunno, here are the pictures:
Set that fits: (click to see bigger)
Set thats off: (click to see bigger)
They have model numbers off them, but I can't find any information on them.
The set that fits: ZC002-12V
The set thats off: ZC006-TR12V
I also talked to a guy who has the same model bike but its an 81, and his numbers were ZC001-12V
so i dunno, if anyone has information on them and perhaps even the specs, that would be great! or could just let me know if the set that fits will work.
Thanks!

You have either points or an IC igniter type ignition. Either will work fine with 3 Ohm (primary resistance) coils. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance on the primary windings... put meter leads on two small lugs where power and ignition wire connect with the meter in lowest Ohms scale. A reading between 3 and 4.5 Ohms indicates the coils would work OK for your application regardless of the mounting issues.
