Dyna, vs. Accel, vs. stock coils was created by snorules
I finally figured out my KZ550C1 gremlins, my 2-3 coil is bad. I didn't check the resistance, but it has a big crack down the under side (the bike sat for years until I rebuilt it), and it produces almost no spark. I replaced the plug wires, ad did the coil mod. I also switched the coils just to make sure it wasn't the wiring coming from th cd igniter. 1-4 worked fine hooked up to the 2-3 side, but 2-3 still didn't work hooked up to the 1-4 side. I'm trying to figure out which new coils to go with, dyna, accel, or stock replacements. Also, does anyone know if these Emgo coils from Z1 will work with my bike?

Thanks in advance for the help.

jeff lists 1.5,2.2 and 3 ohm coils for the 550.id call and ask him for sure;)

With the stock electronic ignition, the Accel 3.0 ohm work well. Coils with 2.2 ohm primary would be slightly on the low side, but could work fine if the inductance was similar. Stock would be closer to 2.4 or 2.5 ohm.
1.5 is a no-no.
I would say the 4-ohm Emgo's would be a bad idea. They are "slow" coils for points. (The electronic Kaw ignition uses smaller dwell angle than points Kaws.)

Thanks for the advice, I'll give Jeff a call tomorrow. I thought about buying some used on ebay, but my luck I'd get bad ones.
