Question about integrated LEd tail lights was created by Leaderone
I saw an integrated Led tail light that I really like. It has 5 wires going out of it just like I have 5 wires going out of the bike. I am going to need an electronic turning signla indicator from what ive read from other posts. What does this look like and where can I buy one. Also am I going to need anything else? My dad is am electrician so he will be helping me with this.
Thanks for any help,
Rob

www.denniskirk.com
has all this stuff, but you will have to search by accessory lighting since it's not stock on your bike. They have everything for this type of upgrade. Good luck!

It looks like it will work - let me ask a question. Does the tail light have built-in turn signals like I see on some of the GSXR stuff? Where each side of the light has some LED's set up as the blinkers?
This looks like it will do the job on that for LED's. You may ultimately want to ask the company that makes your tail light what they recommend, or ask them about the Dennis Kirk product.

If the dennis kirk stuff is more than $20 - forget it. Go with a tail light integrator kit for a trailer. (

I've got one on my bike (running 1157 lights, not LED though), and it works beautifully.
There's a thread hanging around with details..pics, etc.
Thread here - I guess I never put up any pics.. I'll do that tonight.

i see the trailer intergrator has 5 wires on one end and 4 on the other. The integrated turn signal tail light I want to use has 5 wires though. Im thinking maybe I can just directly connect this to my bike as long as I get some resistors?

Well I have been tinkering around for a bit trying to get my integrated turn signal tail light to work and have made a little progress.
I have it working as a tail light / brake light perfectly.
My problem is that I cannot get it to work as a turn signal light. The light has a grid of leds and the brake/tail are red and the turns are orange. When I hit the turn signal the side that is suppose to be turning blacks out and it looks like the orange lights are trying to light up but they are super dim. I checked the voltage on that line and it said about 5 volts on each of the turn signal lines. Is that my problem with this setup? I put my original signal lights on there and they worked fine for the most part. am I missing something here?

well after doing some more research on other sites my problem is most likely lack of resistance on the turning lights, I will purchase some resistors and see what I get from there.

I have LED turn signals, not integrated. I used a "electronic" flasher I bought at advanced auto parts for about $7. You probably need 2, one for hazards one for turn signals. It flashes at a constant rate regardless of resistance even if you have no bulbs connected at all it will keep flashing. Just make sure you get the one that matches the one you have now IE: 2 pin, 3 pin etc. That should fix your problem, and you wont be wasting energy on resistors

you have to use the electronic flasher unit, the leds dont have enough resistance to make a std flasher work, you can get one at a parts store
