Hey guys,
Just want to know whats the best way to clean spark plugs that foul up with soot and make them fire from the
sides of the white insulator?

Personally I first wire brush them with my drill then take a piece of sandpaper and fold it in half and clean between the electrode and ground and then check the gap to make sure you didn't move the ground or sand too much away.

if they are really bad you may have a different problem. try putting a cleaned one and a new one in and check to see if they look the same later

if you are going to try to clean them use carb cleaner and a soft rag.
The new plugs will be damaged by wire wheels, sand paper, files, etc. yes I know prople have been doing it for years and it works for them, but it is damaging the plug.

Has anyone ever tried one of these.

Harbor Freight has them for about $17.00. At that price you can almost pay for it with one set of new plugs...if it works

if thats one of those sand blast giz wiggits, they will eat the plugs up also.

Since they have gone to special coatings on the electodes and grounds the plugs last a lot longer and produce a better spark, but you cant mess with them like you used to
