Starter problem was created by Fossil
My starter was getting very sluggish last summer after I got stuck in downtown traffic and overheated. After that, the starter would turn very slowly after the engine warmed up. This got worse to the point it would only barely move the pistons as if the battery was run down. I tried to start the bike last week with a charged battery and still it barely moved the pistons. Checked all connections, redid a few corroded connecters, still the same, then nothing - I found the starter relay had quit. New relay and still nothing at all. Is it possible the starter is completely done? Can I put 12V across the starter to see if that is problem?

Geez...a few Members with starter problems now.
Sounds like it's time to pull the starter,Fossil...check the brushes and bushings, and give it a cleaning.
