I'm working on a crashed kz750 spectre its a 1983 model
and I need the pulsing coil and advancer and the bolt that holds it on they were all crushed in the wreck.

anyway the question is will a coil and advancer from a 81 model work if not does anyone know where I can find the parts?

any help would be greatly welcomed :)

I have the impression that those parts are the same for all the small four cylinders, 550-650-750, that use electronic ignition. The advancer weights may be different tho, to control the advance. but I think if you stay with a 750 you are good to go.

On my '83 750 LTD shaft, (Same as your Spectre, basically) I am rebuilding the same things from a crash. I grabbed a 750 advancer off ebay, and the pulsing coils too. I didn't really pay attention to what year it was, it should work.

On my 650 I am using 550 pulsing coils and a 750 advancer cam/lobe on the original 650 advancer. The 650 runs smooth now.

For the 550/650/700/750 4-cyl, there are two types of electronic ignition. One is a mechanical-advance type, andthe other is electronic advance. The parts don't interchange between the two systems. The 83 Spectre uses the mechanical-advance type.

The electronic advance type system can't be installed (without modification) on (some or all?) of the older engines due to a clearance problem in the motor casting.

However, the older type can usualy fit into a newer engine. Normally you wouldn't do that unless you were short on cash or time, or something.

but they look close the only diferince I can see is on the coil the magnets or what I think are magnets are covered in plastic the advancer looks just like the one I have.

sorry if thats not a very clear description

whats too much to pay for these parts and would the dealer have them?
