Turn signal doesnt auto-off

According to the manuals for my 83 KZ550, the turn signals on my bike should "count four seconds after turning on, then turn off after going 50 meters". Well... this doesnt happen. The service manual says simply to replace the module, but has anyone ever attempted to fix such a thing?

Ha! You know me, Neil, I'm a gadget-guy... need to have all the toys working on this thing...

if its like my xs it has to have the right 3 prong flasher relay. it will blink with the 2 prong but not auto cancel

dosent that thing work on resitance, seems like I remember something like that, but then again what day is it
