Keys

I just bought an '80 Kz 1000 with no keys. is there a way to replicate the key using the VIN? Only because I don't want to replace the gas cap,etc. For now, I'm trying to figure out how to bypass the switch. Thanks,VIC

is there a number on any of the locks?

To add to what wireman said, the number will be on the seat lock or helmet lock. It will be 7xx I think. I also believe that these numbers mean something to a locksmith who can cut a key off the code.

i went to my local lock jock and gave them my key number. they put in the code and cut a new key without using any of my keys. i went to my bike and ill be dang if it didnt work on all 3 locks. i was very amazed
