Spark Plug Wires
20 Jan 2007 17:13
I have a stock 82 KZ440 and need to replace the plus wires.
What do you recommend?
The wires are screw on to the coil.
Will car plug wires work or does this KZ require special?
Solid copper or stranded?
I have the screw on boots that are new, so just need the wires.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I have no idea what type of wires on it now. It looks like stranded copper, but I am not really a wire expert.

Someone else needs to chime in but I would think that the "screw" in type would work better with metal stranded wire? Anybody...

He's got new plug caps/boots, the stock coils are in good shape, so the regular stranded wire should do just fine. He wouldn't notice a performance diff with the fancy 8mm carbon cored whatevers. Brnad new basic wire will conduct a lot nicer than his old stockers.

Yep its copper stranded. If you want to use car wire, just make sure it has the same amount of resistance or close. Too much or too little can cause problems. I have been thinking about the same for my 81 kz1000
