I have a 1982 Kawasaki kz750e with kehien carbs cheapish pod filters, and the carbs keeps shooting fire out catching my pod filters on fire. I've rejetted the carbs with the sigma6 jet kit and I don't know what it is. Can anyone please help me before I blow myself up

Hmm...maybe your ignition timing is too advanced?

Timing yes. Could be the advancer is stuck advanced. Could be a leaky valve and also the float stuck in the carbs flowing excess fuel. How many cylinders are affected?

Mixture too lean causes back firing through the carbs.
What colour are your spark plugs.

Great looking bike.

I experienced spit back through the carbs noticeable at low speed and at idle when my carb boots cracked. Nothing to the extent of flames though. Replacement fixed the problem. Easy to check. I had K&N pods at the time (recommend ditching the cheap pods) and I think the unsupported carbs may have helped cause the cracking. I since have gone to an airbox

I would also suggest checking for missing carb vacuum caps

It seems like it's the two inner carbs

Thank you, the floats aren't stuck, I will inspect the carb boots for cracks. It only has 9700miles on it. I wish I could find a original airbox that is affordable.

I'm thinking about selling it since it's giving me so much trouble, or trading it

I only have experience with V-8 motor, but I believe it was timing that was too retarded that had fire coming out from my carb. I had the distributor so off that engine wouldn't start but fire/flame was coming out from the carb.

Did this happened before the Keihin carb? It looks like CVK carb. Did you get the correct manifold/insulator?

Mind you, these bikes are not plug and play bikes. You always have to tweak it somewhat to make it work.
