Exactly. Back in the day a guy was bragging a bit about the brand new Yamaha XS750 he had just bought a few minutes earlier. At the time I was still riding my old BSA. After telling me how great it was he hit the starter button which caused the bike to jump off it's side stand and fall to the ground. It caused quite a bit of minor damage to that brand new bike. When I bought my KZ650 I thought the starter lockout was a smart idea. I still do. Ed

I've never had one, So I just use a procedure that's safe and a good practice naturally. I guess It just shows to go ya, If its not yours, keep your dickskinners in your pocket:)

We always park our bikes in gear even though the safety coarse tells you not to, my bike has the clutch lock out, my wife's bike won't start until she's out of gear and has the clutch pulled.
