Here is a photo of my VM 28 SS carbs.  Note the bowls are different.  You can see the air equalizer hoses higher up on each side and the dual fuel intake lower down. Also note the accelerator pump on the botton of #2 carb.  Your carbs have the jets on the intake side but not the same bowls.  Perhaps someone changed out the bowls when they removed the pump.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Lash,s bowls are mikuni originals for non accelerator pump carbs. If lash's carbs measure 28mm at the outlet throat they will measure 26 at the slide as the throat tapers in.
I have a set identicle to lash's except the idle screw set up.

The bowls have 100 stamped on the bottom of them also. Will these carbs be able to run on a 78 kz1000 B2 with a  little TLC ?

Yep, should be fine. 1000 a1's and 2's had them as standard. So you should have enough fuel and air for the job.

Agree that the bowls are from a non accelerator pump carb set.  But the bodies are from an accelerator set.  Notice the jet on the inlet side.

Wired George has a photo of a set just like lash's except the carbs have an accelerator pump.

Vm26's measure around 27mm at the boot side and 28's measure around 28.6mm so these are ex Z1R/MK2 etc VM28MM pumpers with the accelerator pump function disabled by the use of stock VM 26 or 28 float bowls.
They should behave just like stock VM's as those bowls are not drilled for the fuel passage way and block off the fuel nozzles.

Are those VM26 carburetors? The smooth & tall carb bodies are kind of distinctive.
You can measure them inside the carburetor bore near the throttle slides.

edited to mitigate any confusion. my mistake.
