Ed, that diagram kinda hides itself at the top. As often as I use the diagrams, I don't even notice it a lot of times. hee.
Stratman. Thanks. I was thinking your bike or the carburetors were from Canada.
Jet needles. Are your jet needles clearly marked with 5CN15? ... just trying to learn something new. hee. ... I did not examine mine very closely when I rebuilt the carbs several years ago. edit: just answered my own question by looking at several on eb.

The carbs may well be from Canada or anywhere else for that matter. The previous owner told me he had recently bought them. He didn't say where he got them. I'm guessing ebay.
My jet needles are marked 5DL31 and the clip is on the 4th slot so it matches the specs for a lot of model years but not 1981.

Okay. Thanks. I'm not going to speculate exactly what carbs you have then. hee.
As already mentioned by others, you don't need the accelerator pump. After you get it running, be sure to check the spark plugs.

My 78 set of 24s had that jetting along with the needle and my 79 parts bike have the accelerator pump ..... probably like you said a set off of Ebay that should work well.

The 81 KZ650H1 did come stock with the accelerator pump installed. I prefer my bike to be bone stock as possible, but they've really been nothing but a pain. The rebuild wasn't too bad compared to any other carbs, but there aren't any "all in one" rebuild kits available, so I'd stick with what you have. And good luck finding any air ducts for the h1 carbs as well.
You could pull the carbs and air box off the H2/3 (82/83) which should work as well, with the added benefit of air ducts still being made (14073-1032)
