My twin had issues similar to yours. Turned out one of the choke plungers wasn't connected to the choke operating rod and would vibrate in and out randomly. If your carbs are flooding the motor you will have all kinds of issues but depending on which carbs you have, there should be am overflow tube to help mitigate fuel dumping into the motor.
Bikes: 82 kz750 CSR, 03 Suzuki gsf1200s (stage 2), 73 CB 750 bored to 849, big cam, ports head, big valves, lots of other goodies....

Backfire problem solved.

Now I just need to get the carbs back on and hopefully everything will be good.
