Fuel Cock Cup Gasket and Permatex? was created by kzdcw
2 Questions: 77' KZ1000A
1. Does anyone know the size or where I can find the Fuel Cock Cup Gasket for the stock Petcock?
2. My Fuel T's ( 2 ) appear to be in good shape. I don't think they fit real tight in the carb. bodies. Opinions on Yellow Teflon Tape or Permatex High Performance Thread Sealant.

Moneypit, Read the Post. How is the Heat Shrink Tubing holding up in your Carburetors? I have some 3/8" heat shrink tubing Harbor Freight, but don't know what kind of chemical resistive properties it may have?

Repaired Question 1: Went down to Harbor Freight and purchased A Metric Nitrile O-ring kit ( 225 count ) for $4.99. Used ( 2 ) O-rings out of the kit : one for the fuel cup the other for the shut-off valve.
Now to research a few options to better seal the Fuel Tees?

If you can locate the heat shrink tubing, with the meltable inner lining, this might seal better than tubing without it. But be careful, as some are a high temperature type & may melt the plastic fittings.

wiredgeorge uses an appropriate teflon tape to seal the fuel tees when the rubber fittings or o-rings don't seal. He has a carb rebuild business, so i think he knows what he's doing.

I'll try to email him to see what appropriate teflon tape he uses? I'm thinking Yellow? Only thing I was worried about is that it may dissolve and plug up the carbs.? I have some Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant. Says it is gasoline resistant. Thought about using It?

I wouldn't use gasket sealant. The teflon tape just needs to be suitable for gasoline & I guess ethanol. I've never looked into teflon tape to see what its chemical resistance is.
PS: I think Teflon tape is a brand name (DuPont); not sure if plain old plumber's tape is the same type of stuff or what.

Martin, Got an email back from George. He just replaces the Tees. Get a little more finances together and will order those from Z1 and abandon the idea of Teflon and Sealant.
Still have to replace the Coils and Wires. Not sure what direction to go with that?
