Blow them with hot air (hair dryer or heat gun), this will soften the old rubber. When re-installing it is better to submerge them in hot water (use gloves).

The better solution is to buy new ones.

Replace the air duct with new ones. New ones are quite pliable and they make the task 1000 times easier. Ed

Ok I might need a little more "hand holding" through this. I went to Z1 and there were several options for ducts. A few said they would not work for certain types. with the pics I have shown and your vast knowledge could someone be specific on which ones I need? You guys are great and I would be up a creek without ya! I promise to share what I learn through my journey. Are these right?

No; those are not the correct ones for your 1977 KZ650-C1. The correct ones are shown in the diagram below. The good news is that Kawasaki still lists them as "Active" so any dealer can order them for you. Partzilla lists them at $7.87 each for 11015-057 and $11.86 each for 11015-063. Around $40 for the full set. Ed

Z1 has a search function where you can choose your exact model and it will only show you the parts that will fit

In general that is correct, but not 100%.
In this case yes (but for my 81 650H, the wrong ducts are listed... the correct ones are NLA).

Z1Enterprises -->> By Model -->> Kawasaki -->> KZ650-C1 1977 -->> Carb -->> the 1st item listed shows the correct ducts for the 1980 & earlier 650s. click!
