when one of coils get warm it shorting out?seen it happen in cars

grendel, Have you managed to sort this one out?
I believe I have a similar problem with my KZ250, It runs for a few minutes and then bogs down, loses power, stops idling and dies. It will happen intermittently and without warning. I suspected the coil, or something else in the ignition circuit. I am not certain where to start faultfinding this.

If not already done, would check valve clearances and assure clearances are within specs.
Insufficient valve clearance (i.e., too tight valves) may result in the reported symptoms.
