yes, i have read some complaints about the "G" models rocket pods, and the mysterious "catching fire in flight" issues,, but the "G" was popular with the pilots that flew them, and it was a "G" model that was capable of keeping up with and shooting down the De Haviland Mosuito, in level flight, although the first "G" to do it about burned up the engine doing so..as to it being a pig,, it was reaching the end of its design life,,but it was effective and well liked aircraft that could run rings around the best allied fighters of the time (Spitfire V)
