Put some more miles on her and keep tabs on the oil level.
The motor should be fine.

Thanks for the input guys. I think WG maybe correct...I may be expecting the rings to seat too soon. Put 75 mile on her last night, still using the "old" 26's. She's still running very rich but the smoke is probably 80% reduced from where it was at 0-50 miles. No wet residue at the end of right pipe when I got home but both pipe ends very black.
The 28's I was using, after total strip-down & clean, have 115 needle jets and 17.5 midrange jets/tubes with the needles on the middle/3rd notch. I am going to refit them but DO like the idea of visually checking ALL the jets/needles for signs of "tampering". If they haven't been tampered with, I'm thinking of moving the needles to notch #2 and also going with 15's on the midrange?
Any thoughts?
