This is only tangential to the problem, but you may want to make sure your overflow tubes are clear too.

This would at least keep the fuel out of the airbox as long as it's not flowing too fast.

I'm not an expert by any means, and this certainly won't fix your issue, but at least it might restore some of the safeguards built into the motorcycle and save you an oil change until you resolve your problem.

I am a little confused, though. How is the fuel escaping the airbox if not into the crankcase?

I don't mean to hijack your thread. I'm kinda a new guy too and have a thread about my issues with cylinder #3. In reading about your troubles, you mention a method to check the fuel level in the float bowl with the carb still on the bike. How do you do that?

I'm thinking. Shut off petcock. Use the screw on the bottom of the FB to drain it. Shove a clear piece of tubing into that screw hole. Turn on the petcock and see where the fuel level in tube rises.

Is that what you mean? At what level should the fluid rise?

Thanks, sorry for your troubles, hope you get them sorted out. I'll be curious at what you find out.

I got my bike running better. I put in all new float needles and seats and got my petcock working again. also the float levels are correct and consistent now. i tried cleaning #4 plug and it ran great for about 1/4 mile then fouled again. repeated this about 3 times and it would run great for just a short time till it turned the plug wet. i am going to go pick up some more new plugs and see if a fresh one fixes it.

I am going to start a new thread. My symptoms have changed since the beginning and I am having slightly different problems. This thread is getting kinda stale.
New thread title is "#4 plug fouling."
