Gunk in bowls

That's the easiest part: drain the tank from the petcock into a clean plastic bucket. Tip the tank and get tha last fuel out the cap.

Tke off the petcock and clean it.

Rinse the tank out using either clean gas or naptha (mineral spirits).

BTW: if your engine runs good, I would just clean the bowls, rinse the tank and petcock, install inline filters and ride it. Put some Seafoam in once a month to keep the carb insides clean.

Call me silly, but I don't tear down carbs if they are running good. Too many chances that they won't after I get done "fixing" them.... If you clean the tank and install filters you could run Seafoam in it for a while before tearing into it.
