Bountyhunter... the airbox you saw on Google is for a Z1 and will not fit my bike, neither will any other ones that came up.

Moneypit... yes that one will fit, too bad it doesn't come with the air ducts, but I know they are easily available. So I will be bidding on that one and hopefully I get it.

I have my carbs all together and on the bike. I moved the needle up one slot as suggested and will test it out sometime tommorrow. It seems to idle and rev up nicely but I have not taken it out of the garage yet.

Sorry, I went by the description:

Air Box, Used KZ900 (air cleaner body) Add to Cart
$189.99
N/A

Air cleaner body OEM part. 1976-77 KZ900 all models.
11011-054

The ZI air box was listed underneath as a separate item:

Air Box, Z1 (air cleaner body) Add to Cart
$189.99 Air cleaner body OEM part. 1973-75 Z1 900 models. 11011-022

Looked like they had both, maybe not.

FYI, when I was looking for stuff I went to the dismantler sites and fired off emails to the listed addresses and within a few days they got back to me. I found a lot of parts that way not listed on the web sites. Worth a try.

Bountyhunter... sorry I might not have seen the KZ900 airbox there, but I did find one today from a motorcycle wrecker for just $10 and they said it was in decent shape, so once I recieve it in the mail I will find out for sure, but its only $10 plus shipping so no big deal if its not great.

Took the bike for a quick ride today and its better at the start, but still not the best, Other RPM ranges seem to be uneffected by the change. Would moving the needle clip to the 5th slot possibly make it even better? I moved it from 3rd to 4th and got a noticable improvement.

On mine, going richer on the needles improves throttle response from closed throttle at lower RPms. Higher RPM ranges won't be affected by the needle clip because the piston is fully raised then and the small difference in needle position won't affect it much.

Sounds like a good starting point would be #20 primaries and # 115 mains. thats what i ran in my last 900 with pod filters and V&H pipes.
