Hugo, The Keihin CV34 has a real choke mechanism. It is a pivoting plate that opens when the choke is NOT on and closes when the choke is activated. It CHOKES AIR to richen the start up mixture. You can clearly see the gold colored choke butterflies in the pics Link14 posted at the beginning of this thread.

The CV family of carburetors does have a throttle cable connection to throttle butterflies at the other end of the carb venturis. Later CVK style carbs came with enrichment circuits which have choke plungers, similar to those on the Mikuni BS series of carbs.

Sorry, mine are CVK32s so don't have air choke. I thought the older carbs did not have either. Thanks for the explanation.
